Our Wedding (1)

We got married!
It feels like a little while ago and at the same time as if it all happened just yesterday.

It truly was the most magical & special day.
We were still buzzing days after and well into our honeymoon.

We did get married in a tiny little town on the South Coast of NSW. We were beyond excited when we discovered the Bawley Bush Retreat, which allowed us to bring puppy Dalston along and was very easy going and accommodating with all our requests.

It was an intimate little gathering. We were surrounded by just over fifty of our closest friends & family. Yet we had some real champs flying in all the way from London, Barcelona, Hamburg and L.A.
Everyone stayed on site for the whole weekend, which was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity, to have all loved ones in one spot.

Our wedding turned into one big DIY project before we knew it. Thanks to our creative, supportive and uber-talented friends & family, it all felt easy and came together SO well.
I am beyond grateful for all these wonderful people in our life.
There was hardly anything we didn't do from scratch: Flowers , invitations, table decorations, a giant jenga, a teepee for our ceremony, a macrame wall decoration, the cake, a photo booth, lighting, ceiling decorations, makeup, vows....

And then we some really amazing vendors that just went far and beyond.
I have listed all of them at the end of this post.

People always say that your wedding day will just fly by. That in mind I really made it a priority to stay present in every moment. It worked. I do remember every detail of the day and had such a great time. From waking up with butterflies in the morning and having breakfast with Dave, getting hair&makeup ready, making my own bouquet to walking down the aisle together with Dave & Dalston, saying our vows, hearing our friend Pete play the acoustic guitar during the ceremony...
Even the sun came out right on time for our ceremony after it had been raining for a few days. It might have helped it along that our processional music was "Here Comes The Sun"
We got showered in confetti walking out to an acoustic version of "Rebel Rebel" by David Bowie.
I remember and feel every little moment. Playing lawn games outside, hugging people, sneaking away for some photos of Dave & I, holding our speech together, dancing our first dance together...digging into the gelato and cutting the cake. While it was all a fun big party, it was also way more than that. The significance of the day and what it meant to us stayed present with us.
When we told the story of how we met, what marriage meant to us and when we spoke our vows out loud in front of our loved ones, I was constantly reminded why this day was so important.
Everything just felt right.

We were still present until the very end. When we kept dancing with everyone until late. Getting hungry again and finding another round of pizza and gelato, which our awesome caterers left for us. And finally wrapping up to find the night sky clear and filled with stars.

Sure we didn't want the day to end, but boy, we enjoyed every minute of it.
