If you know me than you know that I am big on resusable items.

So naturally I was pretty excited to try the new makeup removing pads by Santé by Enjo.

I used cloth nappies for our baby and washable baby wipes and I try to bring my keep cup when grabbing a coffee on the go.

It’s all the little things that make a difference! Zerowaste items are always a winner. I am by no means perfect though and there are lots of things I do regularly that aren’t green. Like everyone I am trying my best and taking steps to better myself all the time.

Back to business:

I received a whole set of reusable, washable, makeup removers by Santé by Enjo.
Best invention, ever?

Well at least one of the best invevtilns within the beauty space.
I have used reusable wipes and also cleaning cloths before and they have all been great.
These are from outstanding quality though. It’s also great they come as a set.

They come without packaging and arrive in a mesh bag, which is also used to wash the pads. You can simply throw the whole bag with the used pads in the washing machine.

First let me tell you about the looks and specs:

They are generously sized fluffy disks, that come in a variety of colours. The size is really great and makes them easy to use and efficiant in removing makeup. They are a seamless design, you can easily use both sides and all angles for makeup removal.
The fluffy appearance doesn’t dissapoint, they are SUPER soft. And they feel luxurious on the skin.
Another pro is that they are Handmade in Austria. You can really feel the high quality.

Use:
Simply add water and remove makeup in circular motions!
If you are using water resistant makeup you can use a little pure coconut oil first to melt into your skin, massage into eyelashes etc. so that you can loosen any water resistant makeup. Then you can use your makeup remover disk with water as usual to wipe away all makeup residue. Too easy!

Sustainability/Eco/Ethical Factor:

Reusable
Washable
No Packaging
Made in Austria / no slave/child labour/ no sweatshops/ sustainable practices Very high quality and durability
Saves the use of makeup remover products, which further reduces waste and resources

My Thoughts:

My skin felt really clean and clear after using the cleansing pads, even without the use of a cleansing product.
I am personally only wearing very light makeup, yet they also worked well to remove makeup on my clients and models.

Easy to wash in the little bag and just all round a great product!

Weleda News & Oldies But Goldies Body & Baby

I had planned an overview of all our fave hair and body products from the last year…
But with the toddler and being in main wedding season, that was just a little bit too optimistic.

I am also Beauty Editor at Raise Vegan, which is another wonderful commitment and hat to wear, so my own beauty blog has been on the backburner for the last month.

Now that I received a beautiful box of some NEW and exciting Weleda Prducts, it seems at least time to feature our Weleda favourites, which made the list of my fave products for Baby & Body in 2018/2019!

(I will eventually split them all up and will tell you about hair care etc next in a different post)

I have a softspot for Weleda, as I grew up with the products and their whole Waldorf/Steiner aesthetic.
Seriously, how cute is that ltitle yellow suitcase which is a giftpack of their baby range.
Faye uses hers for play and it’s jsut so beautiful to able to reuse packaging in this way.

I really appreciate the HUGE commitment this company has to sustainabilty and nature.
While not all products are vegan (some contain Lanolin from sheepswool and some do contain beeswax)
I have found many fantastic vegan products in their line and also know the commitment they made to save the bees etc.

Long story short here are my top picks for baby and body:

Baby

Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash. So gentle!
Faye is swaeting a lot these days, always wearing her helmet to ride her bike and scooter. This keeps her clean and supple and doesn’t irritate her skin. It also helps that the whole kids range is packaged in her favourite colour: Yellow!

Body Oil:
Seabuckthorn Replenishing Body Oil (also LOVE the rose one)
Beautfiful Glass Bottle. Well designed pump, for no mess application and lovely oil.

Body Butter: NEW!
Skin Food Body Butter: Brand New and finally a vegan product in the award winning Skin Food Range.
This whipped butter, is rich, but yet sinks into the skin quickly! The perfect texture! Also a little more travel friendly than the glass bottles for the oil. Comes in a plastic tub with screw on lid. Leak proof and lightweight. It’s so new I can’t spy it on their Australian website yet but I am sure it will be up there really soon!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this one.

Luxury Body Wash:
Pomegrantate Creamy Body Wash (and also the Rose One!!!)
Hydrating with heavenly natural scent. All you could want in a Body Wash. Leaves the skin radiant.

If you know me I usually buy BIG amounts of gentle natural unisex showergel in bulk.
I go for something unscented and practical. But ever so often I love using something a little special.
On holidays or weekends away or when things are just a little too busy for example.

These are my fave (and vegan) Weleda products for the body! Some I have been using for years others are new additions!

Have you tried Weleda?

A little Grooming...goes a long way

05.JPG

For his birthday Dave visited the barber and we followed up with a selection of great grooming products that he can use at home. He is a sucker for well designed packaging and while he loves his Hunter range these few new items hit the spot.
Vegan, cruelty-free and also free of most nasty ingredients the Hudson Made products are a great natural option for the hairy man your life. It also adds a little bit of NYC to our home.
My fave city in the whole wide world… I used to live there and still have many precious memories.
The products also smell rather amazing. Husband has enjoyed them a lot.

Happy birthday, hubby! And happy grooming.

Trying Happy Skin - My skin on Cloud 9

IMAGE.JPG

Happy Skin, sounds lovely, right? Isn't that what we are all after.

My skin is happy most of the time. A good diet and overall health & happiness contribute to that. But to keep my skin happy it's important to use toxin-free, natural skincare.

An Australian brand I have been keen on trying is Happy Skincare.

They just send me their Cloud 9 Deep Cleansing Balm & Raindrops On Roses Hydrating Toner.
Both products have a great, clean ingredient list. Both contain MSM which is a form of sulphur, naturally derived from Algae which has multiple benefits to the skin, including brightening and clearing acne.

The cool part is that the Cloud 9 Cleansing Balm is not a one trick pony.
You can also use the Cloud 9 Deep Cleansing Balm as a

  • Hair treatment to tame the frizz
  • Cuticle treatment for sexy nails and
  • Foot balm so your tootsies always look good in a pair of heels
  • Barrier cream when you're out battling the elements (perfect for snow season and winter cycling)

The cleansing balm is a great makeup remover and smells fresh.
You can use it with water as a cleansing milk or as classic balm cleanser by massaging the product onto dry skin and then removing it with a damp cloth.
The packaging is no fuss and great for travel. Nothing luxurious, no glass but practical.

The Hydrating Mist is a lovely rose water-based product. Great for refreshing makeup or skin during the day but also as part of your skincare regime. Ahhhhh! So refreshing.

I really love their Dilo Oil too, which I have featured previously. It's a super healer!

Happy Skin creates lovely no-fuss products with clean ingredients.

All certified vegan, cruelty-free and with mostly organic ingredients.
My verdict: Definitely worth a try!

Gentle Toxin-Free Baby Products

IMG_4570.JPG

You already know how much I loved the Edible Bubba Range.

Sadly it has been discontinued for the moment. The kept the best selling Bottom Creme, through which you can now get under the Edible Beauty range here.
(Use Code Liv20 at checkout for 20% off)

I am really happy to have found other great, gentle and toxin-free products for Faye.
She loves playing in the mud these days and just water doesn't cut it anymore at bathtime.
Oh, you should see her little feet and toenails...
Generally, though, I am a firm believer in less is more and it's best to not use too many cosmetics on little ones. So: Always try water first and with young babies water & a natural oil like Coconut is enough in the bath. Read Faye's first bath and newborn bath setup here.

The Weleda Calendula Range is ace, especially the cream bath ist extra gentle and hydrating, so soap bubbles here, which means no drying, yay! This is our daily (or twice daily) bath go-to product. I also adore the smell. It's very aromatic but mild. Faye seems to really like it for her night time bath and the Calendula helps to heal all her little scratches from exploring.
It's hydrating enough, so I don't use a lotion afterwards.

Ever so often I give her head and feet a wash with the Shampoo & Wash, but she does not need this often. She is a toddler now though and walking and eating has allowed for a whole new level of messiness. Some days her breakfast ends up in her ears and hair and requires a bit of shampoo...but that's another story.

Faye does take 2 showers and 1 bath every day. There is no way around it.
They are rather short and we only use a small tub, so it's not a huge affair or use of water.
I am so grateful that it's warm here in Sydney and that she loves water, so I am not worried about keeping her warm afterwards. (Update: Now that it's Winter time and Faye has turned 1, she only takes daily night time baths. The occasional morning shower and only sponge baths/wipes in between. Her eating skills have advanced)

We also tested the Envirocare Bubble Bath Products. They are great fun, as they do make a few bubbles, but they are still don't have any harsh detergents. Perfect for bath time fun and also when Faye really needs a scrub down. We tried the regular and sensitive one. They are pretty much the same with the small difference of having essential Chamomile Oil in the regular one for a little calming aromatherapy benefit. Both don't have a strong smell and are perfect for the most sensitive noses. If you don't want your products to smell of anything, these are for you. The packaging is very practical and super cute with the kangaroos. The 500ml are also very generous and will last a long time. No drying, no sensitivities. A really great, clean and Australian brand!
