Beauty tip of the month

Emailed to me by my Dad! Thanks Dad. (source unknown) I think this is very true. My yoga teacher in NYC taught me to watch my thoughts whenever I leave the house. Like we always check our image in the mirror, which is fine, but wouldn't help if we leave with miserable thoughts. Good thoughts will make you look beautiful! Inside and out.

I am surprised how often I hear women I work with say things like: "I hate my skin." Or "My skin looks awful/terrible..." etc. Everyone has bad skin days, stressful days, or a flu from time to time, but there is no need to be that tough on yourself. Have you ever noticed how your skin changes, when you are stressed, or ill? I can tell the difference in my own skin straight away.

You can enhance your skin with makeup and enjoy and experiment with it. Makeup can transform you, and of course you can cover uneven skin tone, blemishes and dark circles with the right products and techniques. I love makeup, I love my job. It's so creative and versatile, and constantly inspiring. I see makeup as a fun celebration of your own beauty, an artistic tool that can enhance your unique beauty. I wish I could teach women in my makeup classes and makeovers how to love their skin more. And to understand what an important and fantastic organ it really is.

Watch your thoughts! Love the skin you live in.

Surf magic or jumping into summer

Shoes Surf Magic by Clarks found here

As some of you might now, I am shortly moving to Sydney and that means after this few weeks of London Autumn, I will skip Winter and will be jumping right into Summer. For the special occasion I treated myself to a new pair of daily sandals. I was looking for a pair of the perfect summer shoes for a while now.

New shoes to celebrate the new life. They are called "Surf Magic", so suitable! I can't wait to wear them out. They are so comfortable, like most Clarks shoes. I am tempted to get another pair. One that's just as comfortable but a little less casual.

I am so excited and am hoping for many new great opportunities. And am looking forward to working with many beautiful brides in Australia. There are already some exciting news for me, which I will share with you here shortly. It seems like there are wonderful creative people down there, offering the most unique wedding services. Such a pleasure to network with some of them online, and amazing to able to meet them in person very soon.

It feels to good to de-clutter, giving things to charity as well as replacing things, preparing myself for the lifestyle change. Summer and Surf, here I come! Here is to a great start.

My creative tools as make-up artist:

Today I am honored to share my favorite creative tools with everyone, over at Promise Tangeman's blog. She is a great inspiration and I love the idea behind her creative toolbox post. Check out her blog and great work as graphic designer and artist. I made a personal list of little things that keep my creativity as make-up artist going. Thank you Promise for having me!

Professional tools: A good base

A good base makes great skin and gives you perfect make-up result. I often get asked about recommendations and my personal skin care routine. I always moisturize the models or brides skin well before makeup application. The better the skin underneath, the easier and more flawless the make-up on top. It's important to keep a good and simple skin care routine. A mild cleanser and gentle good quality moisturizer are the basics. As make up artist I get to test a lot of different products. My favorite moisturizer as base is MALIN + GOETZ vitamin e face moisturizer. It suits even the most sensitive skins and makes the best base underneath makeup. I am totally in love with their products, which are also free of parabens and animal testing. My daily routine is to cleanse with the grapefruit face cleanser, it removes make up including eye makeup and doesn't dry my skin. I like that the products are unisex so I can universally use them on photo shoots for men and women in my professional makeup kit. I follow with a small amount of the vitamin e moisturizer all over my face. And then...I start my makeup. More soon ; )

Please note: These are my personal recommendations! I receive samples to review and I only recommend products I genuinely like and use for myself.
