Dave's super belated Happy Birthday

Oh yes, it was Mr. Mansueto's Birthday the other week...
A little while ago. We celebrated with family, as Dave's brothers birthday is on the same day.
Between the two birthday boys they had a total of four cakes!
I took Dave out for breakkie and he got a stack of motivational books, all to do with house stuff, to make the hunt more fun.
He wanted The Selby book for a while and I went nuts in the book store, getting additional veggie BBQ recipes, interior design books and books about balcony gardening.
It was a happy day. Oh and then we went with the whole family to Sizzler.
For my first time. Those of you that have been can imagine how random that experience was for me.
Well I did enjoy that salad bar ; )
Oh yeah, there are some updates on the puppy front too. We decided to get a dog as soon as we found a pet friendly place to live. So exciting, I can't stop thinking about it.
Now we just need to get a place.

Hope you had a blast David, I love you.

Cauliflower pizza and the appreciation of it all

I got quite some catching up to do. The last weeks were a bit of a roller coaster ride with the constant house hunt, my busiest month yet and trying to find the balance and strength.
We had fun times and explored new neighborhoods while house hunting.
As usual we spent time together with nice breakfasts and good coffees.
And we made some delicious food at home too.
The best thing was the cauliflower pizza, where we made pizza dough from cauliflower.

Not only did it work out but omg it was delicous. Check out the recipe which we found here.

I had a terrible flu with fever and didn't get the chance to stay in bed, as I am self employed, nothing would get done, and so I worked through it.
There have been days lately where all I could think of was holidays and getting a puppy, but I think after the flu is gone I feel emotionally and physically back on track.
Trying to not be sulky but brave instead and finding new energy daily.
It's nearly been a year for us here in Sydney and I have always found when moving to new places the first year is an exciting one but also usually the toughest at the same time.
I think this is very much true for us.
I am so grateful for everything we have achieved in this year and we had so many amazing moments.
This little blog really makes it easy to remember the good times, when I am browsing through our posts over the last year.
There is so much that I love about Sydney,  yet there are things we are missing about our life in London. We are still adjusting and settling in I guess.

Life is good over here. And hot too, as we had the hottest Spring on record. We picked up our fitness again, running together in the mornings, and right now that's just what I need, that extra discipline that makes me a better person.
And we keep looking for a new place....

An afternoon by the beach and the rocks at Copacabana

Last weekend I worked at a beautiful wedding in Copacabana
(well not quite the Brazilian one but the one right up the northcoast of New South Wales)
David decided to keep me company, and after work  quickly bought a bikini & we spent the afternoon by the beach, walking along the amazing rock structures of Avoca Beach.

This was well deserved as the weekend before we have both been working at the One Fine Day in Sydney. An adorable little boutique wedding fair, where I was exhibiting. See the recap here.

In the midst of house hunting, which takes all our free minutes and work we haven't really been up to that much lately, and have neglected this little blog a little. We were really close to getting our first home the other day but someone gazumped us very last minute. The process takes much more energy up that I would have imagined and I am trying my best to keep a positive attitude.
Fingers crossed for a new home with a balcony, patio, terrace, porch or little garden.
The weather is so beautiful over here, that is a real shame to not have any outdoor space.

I have in the meanwhile written a guest post for Trish from Under Lock and Key though, as she had a little baby boy in the meantime. Check out the post and her blog here, in case you are not following it already. She is the most creative cook and her blog is full of great inspiration and cute things.

Time is flying and we already had quite some very hot Spring days over here.
We are trying to get in shape for Summer!

What have you been up to?

More Waterfalls & Blue Mountains Part 2

The scenery was just too good to not take a picture every minute, and so I felt it's best to divide this post into two. Two days, two nights, two hikes & two blog posts.
I had no idea how much I would enjoy the nature and country, being such a city girl, I wasn't sure if this is for me and until a few hours before the trip I was doubting our decision and was wishing we just booked somewhere by the beach. Mountains & Winter are usually not my cup of tea...
I guess it's safe to say I have changed my mind! With so much going on right now, this was the perfect place to unwind.

We have also been house hunting and have had a lot of research and paperwork to do to get prepared for this whole complicated process of buying a house. And now we are waiting for the Auction to come! We found a place we like so please cross your fingers for us, that we will win it.
Exciting times ahead!

Sidenote:
When life changes our little blogs change with them.
With our careers taking over most of our free time this blog limps a little behind,
I am writing for different blogs and magazines and am challenging myself by getting into Videos as well. Lately I have been traveling for business and my work is my main priority at the moment.
I love this little corner of our Internet so much and I love staying in touch with friends & families all over the world, but this blog is mainly that!
We love having all you readers here, but this blog is mainly for ourselves, that's why I took the pressure of creating our weekly posts.
We will most of the time continue to do this anyway, but sometimes it will take a little longer.
It might be worth the wait though ;) If you like more frequent updates please connect through
Instagram and also check out my beauty blog

Waterfalls & Whiskey Porridge A Weekend Trip (part1)

Instead of holiday this year we went on a little weekend trip to the Blue Mountains!
After we made a day trip there the other week, we couldn't wait to go back. This time with real mountain hiking gear and equipped for some long long walks.
We packed our dorkiest clothes: Be warned, this is not a fashion post!!!

I have never done hiking before but totally had the best time. We went on two five hour walks, which where just the right time for my untrained legs. The rewarding meals afterwards tasted extra good.
We loved the food at Leura Garage and the best sandwiches at The Conservation Hut including views.
Evenings by the fireplace and warming back up in long baths... It was like heaven. We stayed in an very charming old Argyll Guesthouse with the cutest interior and huge spa bath. The owner served us 4 course breakfasts including porridge with whiskey. Not your average hotel, for sure. There was the cat Rose, which really made me realize even more how much I am longing for a pet at home.
Waterfalls, Grand Canyon, Sweet sweet eucalyptus air, big breakfasts, and being away from it all. We loved it so much we got tempted to leave the city and just move up there. For now we are too happy being close to everything in the City and I dearly love Sydney. But we could dream of a weekend house up there....Winter is really not bad here after all!
Second warning: Your fingers might get sore from scrolling but there were just too many lovely pictures to choose from and chances are you get bored looking at waterfall picture number 134!?

Ah well, I will put up a second post with even more of them :)
