Valentines Sunflowers, Yoga Dates + A New Car

The lasts weeks have been eventful.
So eventful, that we got a tiny little bit our of balance, trying to manage so much at the same time.
Sometimes you have to be patient with yourself.
But it breaks my heart not being able to update our little blog in time.
Moving, adjusting and working full time in new jobs takes more time and energy then we have expected.
The lovely Gaby from This Little Port gave us a pass for a Yoga class in a studio where she is teaching, and we got hooked. It's the most wonderful thing after a long day off work, just to switch off for that little time and to exercise, breath and to get back in touch with your body.
For Valentines day Dave got me a big bunch of Sunflowers, we went to Yoga and for dinner after.
What a wonderful little miracle break that was.

Besides the overwhelming response job wise, I enjoy every single day of my work and feel
driven to get better everyday in everything I do.
One night we watched "Jiro Dreams Of Sushi", such an inspiring movie I highly recommend it to anyone.

We still need to learn how to manage our new schedule here in Sydney, but I know that time will
be our main helper, it takes a little time to adjust to a completely new city in a completely new continent at the other end of the world and it will get easier from here, right?
Great news is: We got a little car! Finally! As with my freelance work I have to drag super heavy
suitcases with me containing my professional makeup kit, I was exhausted carrying it up and down stairs in public transport, especially in this heat after loooong days of work.
On the upside I was able to take the ferry to work the other day, which was a real treat,
sitting in the sun, seeing the beautiful skyline, eating fruit salad on the way to my bride.
Every day I am still amazed we are having a beach behind our house (on the photo above)
I just need a couple of driving lessons with Dave, as I am not used to driving on the left side of the road as well as the huge roads with many lanes here in Sydney.
Phew, wish me luck!

We squeezed a wonderful sunny Sunday afternoon with family to celebrate Dave's Dads birthday, seeing our little nephew growing soooo fast and strong and enjoying some BBQ and carrot cake.
Now we are looking forward to the Easter Weekend: We will plan a little trip and just relax.
Sydney, we still love you! You are much faster then we expected, things are moving at light speed.
We are still adjusting, one step at a time.

Two Fine Days + Plenty Of DIY

It's been busy!
Last weekend we were part of  One Fine Day, the amazing boutique wedding fair in Sydney.
It was the most beautiful little event and I am so happy we were involved.
I don't know if all of you know what I do for work, but I am a Makeup Artist.
I work in wedding makeup as well as fashion editorials. The weekend started early by preparing the models for the show in the morning.
Managing our little stall all day long for two days was so much fun and also a lot of work.
We met the loveliest people and so many of the other vendors, which you can check out in One Fine Days Directory on their website.
I hope to collaborate with a lot of them soon! Everyone we met was so inspiring and welcoming. It was the best start I could have ever hoped for.
The whole week beforehand we were busy putting everything together, organizing photos, printing postcards and promo material, and putting together little goodies for the brides and designing the stand itself.
With every booking we gave away little samples of my favorite and highly recommended organic herbal tea,
"Cleansing Brew" from Tea Medica, which is really purifying and nourishing for the skin.
I had quite some cups, during the stressful preparations. I love that it's such a small independent company and everything is locally grown and organic.
For the fair I filled the tea into little glass test tubes, which looked to pretty with the colourful tea, full of red rose petals, yellow calendula flowers and green herbs.
The response from the fair has been great, and it took me all week, to reply to the enquiries and bookings. We met so many lovely brides to be and their friends & families, and it makes me very happy to contribute to such an important and beautiful day in their lives.
Thanks to everyone who booked their makeup with me, I am really looking forward to working with all of you.
Dave has been my super hero, helping me out all weekend at the stand, getting coffees for my makeup artist and hairstyling colleagues and preparing the stand. He designed fantastic forms and
print material and all that at night time after he came home from work.
Yes, I am incredibly grateful for this man.
And now I am having one day off, before I start my next six day week. We might go to the beach.
We might catch up on some sleep, for a long time.
Hope you all had a great week!?

Birthday, Business And Good Food

It was my birthday the other week, and while I was working during the day, I came home to our camping apartment, being decorated with flowers and pot plants, candles and a delicious dave-made dinner. Exactly what I needed. I namd my new plant "Roger" and promised to look after him well.
Afterwards he took me out to Bondi Beach, where we had tickets for the Flickerfest, a little short film festival by the beach.
And we walked all the way home afterwards. A very nice night out, thanks Dave!
While my birthday week was filled with work and the preparations for the exciting One Fine Day fair,
we decided spontaneously on Friday night to go out for a nice post birthday dinner at The Apollo.
The best dinner I have had in Sydney! Absolutely amazing place, that I recommend anyone checking out. That night really charged me up for this crazy week ahead.
I squeezed in another little break, meeting the lovely Gaby from This Little Port for a green smoothie and a raw mango cake (which I need to find the recipe out for asap!) and went swimming behind the house almost every single day.
Due to the high volume of work and the One Fine Day fair coming up, I won't be able to post next week, but promise to fill you asap afterwards.
Or maybe I even see some of you there?
Our furniture is going to arrive in the midst of everything too, so we will spent some night, putting everything together and unpacking too.

I did expect the start of our life here to me much more relaxed, slow and to have plenty of free time on my hands for exploring the new country, taking photographs and blogging.
But life doesn't always like to be planned, it likes surprises.
It's great to see my freelance taking off so well already and the time is flying by.
It's safe to say we are settling in well. Thanks to  new friends, old friends, family and good coffee places we are on a roll. Hope 2013 is treating you all well! Speak soon. x

A little Mexican Rooftop Dinner

The other night when it was a lovely warm clear summer night, we went for a nice walk and had dinner on a Rooftop at a Mexican place, that makes the most fabulous dish,
truffle quesadilla! The place was full of the brightest little decorations, furniture and paintings from Mexico. I would love to go there one day.
Summer nights outdoors, fresh food and cold drinks and a daily swim that's what really makes me happy right now. January you are fabulous! So much more exciting and busy than I ever expected.
And you are my birthday month! One thing we actually don't agree on is Birthdays.
To me birthdays are important and to Dave they are not so much.
And having no family or friends around here just yet the thought of my birthday makes me feel a tiny little bit homesick. Maybe I need some Skype time with my Mum and fabulous friends.

Collecting, Camping and Focusing

Did I tell you we are camping in our own house right now?
No? Ah well, we are still waiting for our furniture&belongings, which are somewhere on a ship between London and Sydney right now. So we are sleeping on mattresses on the floor, eating from picnic ware and living on a bare minimum of suitcase essentials. It's fun some days, and annoying on others. Somehow cozy and creative but messy at times, we can't wait for our things to arrive.
In the meantime we are going round flea markets, 2nd hand furniture shops and little antique shops trying to find things for the new house that we won't have already and really need.
Other people go to the gym, we go furniture shopping without a car!
Keeping fit, we start to feel like the local gypsies in our rather posh little neighborhood.
David keeps carrying our treasures home. We are so excited to have our own place, and to decorate and renovate the apartment step by step. It feels better than I could have ever imagined, I love our place.
While we are both busy at work, it can feel overwhelming at times to come back to our little camping site, but we know its for limited time only.

Inbetween work and furniture finding we tried and make some room for coffees and dinners together.
Time to focus and talk about our goals and plans for our new life in Sydney.
I noticed how much power there is in focusing. It's easy to get sidetracked, to listen to other peoples opinions and negative beliefs to get caught up in what if's.
But what if I no longer care about what others fear or think I can't do? I focus on what I know I can do and on what I want to achieve and things are starting to fall into place. There are endless opportunities everywhere.
Sending all of you some focus and happiness for this exciting new year.
We will post some pictures of the house, once it's all done ;)
